In the Foothills, Planting Day is officially May 10th. Plant too early and the plants could freeze; plant too late - the harvest is immature.

Planting: basil, tomatoes, squash, peppers, beans, eggplant, dill, cukes, melon... all the usual summer crops.

Preserving.

The change of seasons and end of growing season comes swiftly in the Foothills; exactly 4 months from Planting Day (Sept 10th).

Preserving: baba ganoush, pesto, marinara, pickles, dilly beans, syrup... and / or whatever else we think of!

Harvesting Honey.

Working with the bees is a special treat and honey harvests occur on a different schedule than the plants.

Sharing our passion for homegrown food with the ones we love

Most people don't know how their food is grown and have never had the experience of preserving it, only to open that jar and dig into the most delicious thing you've ever eaten...since the last jar you opened.

Yoel grew up in a farming family, and Meredith grew up in a homesteading one. Working with the land, soil, animals, plants and weather, and the faith that the harvest is coming was integral to his childhood. Meredith learned the art (and science) of canning, dehydration and drying as soon as she was tall enough to see over the stove. For whatever their different worlds - sharing their passion for growing and preserving food brings them together.

The best part? These activities are communal, meant to be shared and celebrated. And, let's be honest - there is nothing like a good farm party. We hope you, our beloved friends and family, will join us in these annual traditions.
